Saina Nehwal was born on March 17th, 1990, in Hisar, Haryana, India. Her father, Harvir Singh Nehwal has a PhD in agricultural science, while her mother, Usha Rani Nehwal is a former state-level badminton player. Saina raised alongside her elder sister Abu Chandranshu Nehwal.

She did her early schooling in Hisar itself at Campus School CCS HAU, Hisar. Later, Saina completed her 12th grade in Hyderabad. She was introduced to badminton while visiting a local club in Haryana where her mother used to play. Her mother was actually the one from whom Saina got all the inspiration to become top top-level badminton player.

Career:

Early Career (2005 – 2010):

In 2005, Saina began her professional career by participating in the Asian Satellite Tournament. She defeated Aparna Popat in the final and won the tournament, which gave her initial recognition. Next year, she again won the Asian Satellite Tournament.
